Ms. Catlin Fritz and I will be going on a 20 day adventure this summer to South America!!! We will spend 3 weeks exploring, hiking, and boating in Lima and Cusco, Peru in June. We were awarded the Fund For Teachers Grant on April 5, 2016. This is an amazing opportunity for not only Ms. Fritz and I, but for our school as well. We will get to see first hand how the ancient Inas lived, thrived, and then ceased to exist. We will be taking several tours while we are in Peru; such as the Nazca Lines, Ballestas Islands, Lake Titicaca, Pachacamac Ruins, cooking and pottery classes, and the ultimate tour to Machu Picchu. We are so excited to go on this adventure that was really inspired by our students.
But we could not have done this without some guidance and advice along the way from our peers. Mrs. Ball, Mrs. Chapuis, and Mrs. Davison were so gracious to look over our many drafts before we submitted our best work. We can’t thank them enough for encouraging us, editing our drafts, and loving us through this process.
Stay tuned for more details about our trip. We will have a specific webpage set up so you can follow our adventure while we’re in Peru.
Never stop dreaming, never stop believing!!

I think Ms. Fritz and I have finally come down to earth after winning our grant. We are now in the process of making all the arrangements for our trip. That seems like an easy task….but it’s not. A lot of work goes in to finding just the right flight, hotel, and tours to take. We are going to be sharing ways students can keep up with us over the summer in a few weeks. We will do our best to update our website, twitter, and facebook pages as much as we possibly can. Stay tuned for more information on where we will be traveling to each day.
This is an actual picture from the top of Machu Picchu. The climb to the top was a little brutal, but it was well worth it! The view was just amazing. Literally took our breath away, and left us speechless for a few moments. This was a trip of a life time for Ms. Fritz and I. We will be telling our students more about our journey in the weeks to come. Each grade level will learn about specific places when they visit the library. Our hope is to share our experience with our students, and create life long adventurers and get them excited about learning about other cultures around the world.
